An other year almost over again. It was a very busy year for Tepon. We have had lots of different clinics, workshops and our clubs have been very active too.
Unfortunately the Wild River Polo Cross is no longer an affiliated member due to the lack of members for their club. It is an shame to see them go and we hope that in the near future they will find more new members to get their club going again.
The Endurance Riders are also struggling with their amount of members. It is sad to see an active club like the Far North Endurance Riders struggle so much. Tepon is in such a great area for Endurance Riding, we have several long tracks through some stunning country. At all of their events they have introduction rides where people that would like to give it a go are more than welcome to do so. The Herberton Horse Sports is doing very well. Their clubs days seem to get bigger all the time and they still welcome new members or people to come and have a look what it is all about. Their club days are all about fun and giving it a go.
If you look at our calendar for next year you can see that we have some more exciting things happening. More and more people start to realise what a great venue Tepon is and we try our best to improve the facility all the time. Upgrades on the holding yards are in full swing and now the season is a bit more quite the upgrade on the kitchen will continue. We also received some funding from the Qld Gambling Community Benefit Fund to finish our sun roof that comes off the arena. And lots more things are in the planning.
We have new hire fees to make it a lot easier for people that want to hire the Grounds for more days. Also most people like to come the night before or stay until the next day. This has now been included in most of the hire fees. You can check it out on our Hire Fees page.

3 Day clinic with Major Miguel Tavora
at the Tepon Equestrian Park
27-28-29 April 2011
Major D. Miguel de Lancastre e Tavora (Abrantes) was born in Portugal, son of the ninth Marquis and Marchioness of Abrantes. He started riding with Nuno Oliveira at eight years of age. He rode with Nuno until he was 18 at which time he attended the Military Academy. In his military career he completed the Course of Instructors and later the Course of Masters as the Portuguese Military and Civilian Riding Academy of Mafra (CMEFED) and competed in Eventing, Show Jumping and Dressage. He was later appointed as the Chief Instructor and the Director of the Equestrian Division of the Mafra School.
On retiring from the army, Nuno Oliveira arranged for Miguel to migrate to Australia where with his wife Dianne they run their own Equestrian Centre (M & D Tavora School of Equitation). Miguel is a NCAS Level III Instructor (dressage specialist) which is the highest level in Australia and he has trained numerous horses and riders to FEI level, many competing at Grand Prix Level. Dianne has trained and competed to Grand Prix level.
Miguel is a regular contributor to The Horse Magazine in Australia and conducts clinics throughout Australia and the USA.

Clinic information:
- 3 day clinic where each person will have one lesson a day and observing others while they have their lessons.
Cost:
$485 Inc. GST per person
Camping included at the Tepon Equestrian Park and use of clubhouse with kitchen.
A $200 deposit is required to secure your spot in this clinic, first in first go. Deposit must be in before July 18 2011. No cancellation, the participant is responsible to find their own replacement rider. Reserve list will be available.
Fence sitters:
$25 pd/pp no booking required but a notification would be great. Payment on the day.
